Dorchester Town Hall is built.

1816

The brick building with a Greek Revival portico is located at 6 Norfolk Street (637 Washington Street). It replaces the First Church in Dorchester as the site of town meetings and its construction here signals the population shift to the southern part of Dorchester. After Dorchester is annexed by Boston in 1870, the building is used by various groups and for amateur theater productions. It is demolished make way for construction of a new building in 1904.*
